Tom Roiniotis is the General Manager of Longmont Power & Communications (LPC) and has over 30 years of experience in the energy utility industry. Prior to joining LPC, Tom was Director of Customer Field Services for the Pacific Gas & Electric Company in Northern California.
During Tom’s tenure, LPC has earned a Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) designation from the American Public Power Association for 9 consecutive years or since the program’s inception. The RP3 program recognizes utilities that demonstrate the highest proficiency in reliability, safety, work force development and system improvement. LPC provides Longmont residents highly reliable electricity, energy efficiency programs and renewable energy options at rates that are among the lowest in Colorado.
Tom has also lead Longmont’s effort to develop Colorado’s first city-wide fiber optic based broadband network now known as NextLightTM. Upon NextLight’s full deployment - estimated to be by year-end 2016 - Longmont will be Colorado’s first Gigabit City.
Tom serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Platte River Power Authority, the electric generation and transmission organization providing energy for municipalities in Northern Colorado, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Longmont Area Economic Council.
Tom, his wife Michelle and their two children moved to Longmont in 1999.
